This year, I spent my summer holidays in the amazing Scandinavian country Norway.

Together with my girlfriend, we went by ship from Kiel (Germany) to Oslo (Norway) to start our 3.000km journey in my MINI Cooper S all around Norway. In total, we drove 50 hours starting in Norway’s capital driving North to the town Røros near the Swedish border. It was designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.

Our next destinations were Trondheim and Kristiansund before driving over the absolutely stunning Atlantic Ocean Road with the gigantic Storseisundet Bridge — a must-see for us when we initially planned our trip. Another highlight from the same day was driving the serpentine mountain road Trollstigen which is both impressive and fun when driving a powerful go-kart-like car.

The next couple of days led over routes in the West of the country, from Ålesund to Førde and Bergen, the “Gateway city to the Fjords” with another World Heritage Site — Bryggen, the eastern harbor site of Bergen.

The final highlight of our trip was a 3.8km hike to the Pulpit Rock. “Preikestolen” is a steep cliff rising 604 metres above the Lysefjorden. Atop the cliff, there is a rock plateau of approximately 25 by 25 meters. The view up there and the experience of getting to the top of the cliff is unparalleled!

After visiting the city of Stavanger, we ended our drive in Oslo a few days later. The harbor area with the futuristic Oslo Opera House in contemporary architectural style is definitely worth a visit!

The pictures below give a broad overview of all the impressions and experiences we gathered during our 16 day-trip. For photographers, the country is a must-visit due to its variety of beautiful landscapes, waterfalls, wildlife, cities and the hospitality of the nice and relaxed Norwegian people.
